Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 9 September 2026
WorkMart uses an escrow model: a Provider pays the job amount up front, and it is held safely by our payment partner until the job is confirmed complete. Because money is held rather than paid out immediately, refunds are straightforward when a job doesn't go ahead. This policy explains when and how refunds and cancellations happen.
1. Cancellation by the Provider
- Before payment — You can cancel a draft or unpaid job at any time at no cost. Nothing has been charged.
- After payment, before a worker is assigned — You are entitled to a full refund of the amount paid (job budget + platform fee), because no work has been performed. Request it in the app or email workmartjobs@gmail.com.
- After a worker is assigned, before work starts — You may cancel by mutual agreement with the worker or by raising a request with support. If the worker has not yet started or incurred travel/effort, you receive a full refund of the job budget; the platform fee may be retained as the match was facilitated. Where the worker has already travelled or begun, a fair partial amount may be paid to them.
- After work has started or been completed — Cancellation is no longer automatic. If you are not satisfied, raise a dispute in the app before confirming completion (see section 4).
2. Auto-cancellation of unpaid jobs
If a job is created but not funded within the payment window, it automatically expires and is removed. No charge is made.
3. Once completion is confirmed
When a Provider verifies the worker's completion code and confirms the job, the escrow is released to the worker. A confirmed, released payment is final and cannot be refunded through the app. This is why any concern must be raised as a dispute before confirming completion. If you believe a released payment was obtained by fraud, contact workmartjobs@gmail.com and we will investigate.
4. Disputes
If a job is not done, is done poorly, or something goes wrong, either party can raise a dispute in the app before the payment is released. WorkMart reviews the available evidence — chat, photos, location and verification codes — and decides a fair outcome:
- Release the escrow to the worker (work was satisfactory);
- Refund the Provider (work was not done or not as agreed); or
- Split the amount fairly between both parties.
We aim to resolve disputes within a reasonable time after both sides have submitted their evidence.
5. How refunds are paid & timelines
- Refunds are returned to the original payment method used by the Provider, through our payment partner (e.g. Razorpay).
- Once a refund is approved by WorkMart, it is typically credited within 5–7 business days, depending on your bank or UPI provider.
- You will be notified in the app when a refund is initiated.
6. Platform fee
Where a full refund is due because no service was rendered (for example, cancellation before a worker is assigned), the platform fee is refunded along with the job budget. Where a job was successfully matched, performed, or a dispute is resolved in favour of the worker, the platform fee may be retained. While the zero-fee launch offer is active there is no platform fee to refund.
7. Tips
Tips are voluntary gratuities sent directly to the worker after payout. They are final and non-refundable once captured.
8. How to request a refund
Use the in-app options on the job, or email workmartjobs@gmail.com with your registered phone/email and the job details. For unresolved concerns, you may contact our Grievance Officer at workmartjobs@gmail.com.
In short: money is held in escrow, so if a job doesn't happen you get it back. Refunds go to your original payment method, usually within 5–7 business days. Raise any concern as a dispute before confirming completion — after confirmation, the payment is final.
